MAC MILLER

“I’m just an idea, nothing concrete.”

Lord is important, but I am stronger
I’m a monster with the heart of a lion divide and conquer
walk on water, it won’t be long till I flyin’ that’s my departure

Mac Miller

Thank You Mac

Mac Miller, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 19, 1992 was a very influential rapper who passed away too soon. Mac Miller spoke to the youth in his songs relating to them and letting them know they’re not alone. He had untapped potential to evolve the culture of Hip/ Hop and also evolve his own music. Mac Miller didn’t make music to keep up with the time or give people what they want. He gave people what they needed.

In his music Mac talked about a lot of his struggles in life. Mac spoke on the concepts of Love, Drugs, and Life/ Death. In 2012 Mac was deeply affected by his close friend’s death Reuben Eli Mitrani. After his friend’s death he wrote a song called “REMember,” the first three letters being the initials of his friend. In this song he spoke about his friend and the idea of youth, loss, and legacy. One of the most heartfelt lyrics in the song talked about just that.

There’s just a bunch of shit I wish I could tell you

This life moves fast, I never knew that yours wouldn’t have lasted

The dirt hitting your casket, like raindrops

I swear I’ll let you know when the pain stops
